Homework Wigston Academy – Learn – Aspire - Achieve Writing down your ‘homework timetable’ Understanding how your planner works Writing down your homework in lessons (write exactly what you have to do) Recording when it has to be done for Asking if you are not sure what the task means Making sure you bring home everything you need When you get home, using your planner to remind you Ticking the ‘done’ column in your planner when completed Taking your completed homework to school on the correct day Use the show my homework app. Remembering to give it in!
ORGANISATION Wigston Academy – Learn – Aspire - Achieve The school is divided into departments such as ‘Maths’ or ‘Science’ and all staff teach in one or more of them. Most also have responsibilities for students’ well-being (their ‘pastoral’ role) Your child will be placed in a ‘tutor group’ of other Year 7 students and their tutor has responsibility for your child’s overall well-being Students will register in their tutor group and learn with them in many classes (although for some subjects children may be placed in ‘sets’ according to their ability) There are a number of pastoral staff who have overall responsibility for all of the tutor groups in that year group.

If you have talked to your child, offered reassurance, helped them come up with ways of solving the problem themselves and things still haven’t changed, then it is time to speak to the school.
