Partnership with the Government of Alberta Since 1970 Pharmacy, vision and paramedical Coverage for Seniors Non Group Coverage Palliative Coverage Optical Assistance for Seniors Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped Income Support Adult Health Benefit Alberta Child Health Benefits Children Services Child and Youth Supports Learners Public Health Activities Program Pharmacy Services Program Insulin Pump Therapy Program RAPID Alberta Blue Cross has been a strong partner with the Government of Alberta for over 43 years. Since 1970, Alberta Blue Cross has worked closely with Government of Alberta to develop a number of highly customized processes that represent many of the best practices in drug plan management today. Starting with the Coverage for Seniors program in 1970, ABC today administers pharmacy, dental, vision and paramedical benefits across 15 Government sponsored programs. Programs include Coverage for Seniors, Non-Group Coverage, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped and Income Support. Coverage for Seniors, provides coverage for prescription drugs and other health-related services not covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). In 2015– 2016, there were 590,810 seniors and dependents with coverage through this plan. Non-Group Coverage, a plan available to all Alberta residents under 65 years of age, also provides coverage for prescription drugs and other health-related services not covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). In 2015–2016, there were 99,198 Albertans with coverage through this plan. Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), provides health-related assistance to eligible adults with a disability. In 2015-2016, there were 57,280 Albertans with coverage through this plan. Income Support (IS), is a plan that provides financial assistance and health benefits to Albertans who do not have the resource to meet their basic needs. In 2015-2016, there were 62,632 Albertans who accessed this plan. Retina Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Program for Intraocular Disease (RAPID)

Initiatives To administer the program, Alberta Blue Cross provides a number of services for the Government of Alberta (i.e., the plan sponsor) and Albertans (i.e., plan members). The first service includes enrolling Albertans into the health benefit programs. ABC currently receives electronic enrollment files from the Government of Alberta Another service we provide is the billing process for the Non-Group Coverage program, which is a premium based plan. In the most recent fiscal year, there were over 99,000 Albertans, who did not have coverage through a private plan that were covered. Nearly 100% of the claims are direct bill. In 2015/16, ABC processed 37 million drug claims on behalf of Alberta Blue Cross plan members, with over 95% being billed directly to ABC.

So that’s a snapshot of the different initiatives we’ve worked on with the Government of Alberta over the years, and we look forward to working on more. So to wrap-up, we’ve done a considerable amount of work when it comes to finding efficiencies in the different services we provide for our plan members, benefit providers and plan sponsors, including the Government of Alberta. Internally, as Dan discussed, we’ve made changes to our work flow processed and also held various campaigns to Go Green and continue to encourage staff to do their part. Going paperless and leveraging digital tools and platforms has been important to us, and we look forward to building on our success as we go forward. On behalf of Dan, I’d like to thank everyone for having us in today. If there are any questions, please let us know!
