Financial aid What you need to know MiraCosta College

What is Financial Aid? Money that can be used to pay for any school relate expenses Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver Grants (Pell Grant, Cal Grant, FSEOG, Chafee Grant Federal Work-Study Scholarships Loans Financial aid consists of funds provided to students and families to help pay for postsecondary educational expenses.

apply dream.csac.ca.gov Undocumented Students AB540 Eligible: Attended California school for 3 or more years Graduate from California high school (or equivalent) Register or enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education in California Fill out an affidavit with the school Register for selective service (males 18-25)

The Process Apply Complete FAFSA or DREAM Application/GPA Verification E-mail Receive Estimated Award Notice To-Do List We ask for additional documents Review/Revision Review All Documents Awards May Change Payment is Disbursed Higher One Grades Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress -Completing the FAFSA/Dream application is only the beginning! -If additional documents are needed, they will be listed on the TO DO list on SURF (or a similar student portal) -Take care of any holds or any pending items on your TO Do list. -Awards will be posted on SURF -Grades matter! Make sure to check the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy on our website: www.miracosta.edu/financialaid -Make sure to drop/add classes by the drop/add deadlines and communicate with your Financial Aid office. Stay connected! Communicate any major changes to the Financial Aid office.

SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) GPA: Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher Completion Rate (Pace): Complete 70% of all units attempted Maximum Timeframe Complete your degree within a certain timeframe Limited to 150% of the units required to complete the program. *BOGW – 2.0 GPA & 50% completion rate

Disbursements You DO NOT have to be enrolled full-time to get financial aid Health Fee ($19) & Student Center Fee ($1/unit) must be paid at the time of enrollment Financial aid disbursements begin 30 days after start of semester
