Causes of the American Revolution Following the end of the French and Indian War the British Begin to Tax the colonist “harshly” Due to the massive debt from all of the wars. Sugar Act 1764, Stamp Act-1765, Townshend acts-1767. Britain also looks to limit expansion- Proclamation line 1763
