Background The joint hydrographic survey was conducted under MEHWG Hydrographic Survey Technical Working Group (HSTWG) formed early 2015 to update the ENC on 5 UKC critical area with comprehensive bathymetric coverage Funded by Japan ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) First joint hydrographic survey by using multibeam technology since 1998

On 5th CHC Meeting, Malaysia had presented on the updates of the joint hydrographic survey Phase 1 (5 UKC Critical Area) in the MSS. To update Phase 2 Joint Hydrographic Survey in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore. The area to be surveyed shall cover 47 survey areas, depth less than 30 meter within the Traffic Separation Scheme.

Phase 2 Implementation Tentatively the MoU will be signed at the 10th Cooperative Forum on 2nd Oct 2017 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The first survey is scheduled to commence in February 2018 4 years project including data collection, processing, ENC production and workshop. Survey works need to be completed by 2020.
