Arts Liaisons in Action An Arts Liaison: serves as the primary point of communication between their school, the Department of Arts Education, Ingenuity, and arts partners. works to ensure that students, educators, and administrators in their school have access to important arts-related information across all disciplines. seeks actionable ways to expand and improve arts education and programming in their school and in the broader community. We have updated the job description so that it’s clearer and contains a breakdown of responsibilities We have an ADMINISTRATOR version of the role handout in our Toolkit. We do not have Lead Arts Liaisons this year because: 1) We shifted the focus to peer support around teaching and learning with our Arts Instruction Specialists. 2) We wanted to cast a wider net to bring in our high-flyers when and where they feel they can make the most impact. If you notice something that is not being done anymore, let us know!

Arts Liaisons in Action Examples: In small groups, come up with real-life examples of each of the main facets of the Arts Liaison role. Record your examples on chart paper. Serves as primary point of communication Fills out Creative Schools Survey accurately and on time Provides access to important arts-related information Sends regular emails to all staff about in- and out-of-school arts opportunities Expands and improves arts education and programming Applies for arts grants Uses Standards to advocate for dedicated arts classrooms/spaces

Sessions and learning tracks will build on one another over the course of the year. Have a strength you want to share? Indicate on your evaluation if you’d like to present at a session!
