Types of Maps

There are several types of maps. Each show different information. Most maps include a compass rose, which indicates which way is north, south, east, and west. They also include a scale so you can estimate distances.

Resource / Product Map Definition: These maps feature the type of natural resources in the area or products that are made in the area.

Example of Natural Resources from Louisiana: oil, rice, salt, cotton, fish, crawfish, crabs, oysters Example of Products from Louisiana: Tabasco Hot Sauce, Zapp’s Chips, Blue Runner Red Beans, Bunny Bread, Blue Bell Ice Cream
