What to expect… This course is designed for you to successfully pass the AP Psychology test. Thurs May 9, 2019 Vocabulary (Define and Apply), people (historical and recent), free response questions (FRQs) and reading assignments will be a part of many units.

13 Units History of Psychology and Research Methods The Brain State of Consciousness Sensation and Perception Learning and Conditioning Cognition

Units Continued Motivation and Emotion Intelligence and Testing Developmental Psychology Personality Abnormal Psychology Treatment Social Psychology

Grading In class, students will be graded on the following scale: 4.0 – A 2.3 – C+ 0.7 – D- 3.7 – A- 2.0 – C 0.3 – E 3.3 – B+ 1.7 – C- 0.0 – No Attempt 3.0 – B 1.3 – D+ 2.7 – B- 1.0 – D

In MiSTAR, you will notice that all grades in the gradebook are represented by a number as shown above. These numbers represent the grade that the student received on the assignment. If a student received a B+ on a paper, the gradebook will show a 3.3 for the mark.

Types of graded work include: Unit Quizzes (Vocab and Reading) Unit Test – 50 questions – MC Projects Final Exam: Each semester (20% of grade)

Vocabulary Quizzes Quizlet.com has vocab terms for each unit. Some units--like the first one—will have 2 vocab quizzes. You will typically be informed a week in advance when the vocab quiz will be given. If you do not score a 100% on the in-class vocab quiz, you may re-take the quiz (before or after school on posted days or as agreed upon by you and Mr. Bell).

Miss a class period? It is your responsibility to find out what was missed. If an assignment was due, yours is due when you return. If you have missed multiple days, see Mr. Bell for a due date.

Test Make ups If you were absent the day of the test, it is your responsibility to talk with Mr. Bell regarding a make up time. The test should be made up within a week of the test date.

Attendance Attendance is taken when the schedule hour begins. i.e. When the clock turns 7:20 (1st Hr) and you are not in the classroom you are tardy. See student handbook for tardy and absence policy.

Other info Smart phones/IPADs/IPODs—can be used occasionally during class for educational purposes. Mr. Bell will follow school policy regarding violation of this rule. Food and drink permitted. Take care of your own trash. This classroom is a Peanut/Nut free class as several students have allergies. Please keep that in mind when bringing food into the classroom. Bathroom Policy: Last 10 min. unless emergency, pass in back on hanger. 1 student at a time.

Hartland High School Responsibility Hartland High School has an expectation that students will take responsibility for their own learning.  Communicating with teachers is key to student success.  If an issue or question arises pertaining to a particular class, the student should: * first talk to the teacher in an attempt to resolve it.  If the student feels further discussion is needed, s/he should: * then make an appointment with their counselor.  ** It is important for students to follow this protocol.  If a parent feels that further discussion is needed, the teacher should then be contacted by the parent.
