Room 111 News Friday December 11, 2015 Important dates: Next week’s Shine Student is Sophia  Tuesday 12/15: Christmas Program—1:30pm and 7pm in the church Thursday 12/17: Spelling test—List 7 words Friday 12/18: SCAAP for those who earn it and class Christmas party Monday 12/21: Christmas break begins Saturday 1/30- SPX Family Dance! Save the Date!!!  Important Information: There WILL be a spelling test next week! List 7 words. Only a few more days for the food drive! We will be collecting cans until 12/16. Christmas Program info: Students should come to school on 12/15 wearing their outfit for the Christmas show: any white shirt and dress pants/skirt. Navy school pants would be a great choice! Headbands with cow ears will be given to the children to wear at school. If your child is a special character, your child can wear his or her gym uniform to school and a costume will be given to him or her here (unless other arrangements have been made for you to send one from home). Please plan to bring your child back to SPX by 6:30pm on Tuesday 12/15 for the evening performance. Children need to be dropped off by a parent before the show and picked up by a parent in our classroom after the show. There is no “official” homework log over Christmas break, but please read and practice math facts at least a few times! It’s so easy for kids to lose new skills even with just a two week break. This week we’ve been working on: New digraphs and contractions in Saxon phonics Learning about the Holy Trinity and the Holy Spirit in Religion Fact families and related facts in math Last week we learned the difference between facts and opinions. This week, we read the hilarious story Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Krouse. The children then wrote an opinion paragraph about whether they thought the picture in the book was a duck or a rabbit.
