Put proper heading on all papers. Do not use electronic devices in class without teacher permission. Use restroom during passing breaks. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Bring all of your supplies to class daily. Complete all of your work and turn it in on time. All BMTISD rules and policies shall be observed within the classroom. Consequences 1. Warning: the teacher provides a verbal reprimand/reminder to student. 2. Demerits: a mark in teacher record book for poor conduct. 3. Contact: Parent will be contacted after 3 marks are recorded. 4. Conference: If behavior has not changed after call, conference scheduled with parent. 4. Referral to Administration: a student will be immediately referred to administration for severe behavior problems. Course Description In Grade 6, students study people and places of the contemporary world such as Europe, Russia and the Eurasian republics, North America, Middle America, South America, Southwest Asia-North Africa, Sub- Saharan Africa, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Realm. Students describe the influence of individuals and groups on historical and contemporary societies. Students identify ways of organizing economic and governmental systems as well as the concepts of limited and unlimited government. Students compare institutions common to all societies such as government, education, and religious institutions. Students explain how technology affects the development of the selected societies and identify different points of view about selected current events. Who is my Teacher? Work not completed and turned in by the assigned date is considered late. If a student is absent on the date work is due, the assignment is due the first day the student returns to school. COMPLETED LATE WORK will only receive partial credit (70% of the assignment total). What do I do if I am absent? Mrs. Richard’s Class Smith Middle School 2018-2019 School Year Can I retest?   Grades Students are not allowed to retest, but will be retaught the objectives that were not mastered. Students are allowed to complete extra credit assignments. The maximum number of times to complete an extra credit assignment is 3 per nine weeks. 10 grading points will be added to an assignment of the student/parent choice. Major Grade(Test, quizzes Projects) = 60% Daily Work (Assignments given in class) =40% DISTRICT POLICY: Each student will have 18 daily grades and 5 major grades for each 9 weeks. This is a total of 23 grades. What do I do if I am absent? . * It is the student’s responsibility to check the class weekly agenda displayed on the board. Additionally students should retrieve any papers from the file folder. * A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Academic Dishonesty (Plagiarism) In this class, plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) *Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment *Students caught cheating will be given a zero for that particular test or assignment and teacher will notify parents and administration. Class progress reports will be sent according to the district schedule. By request, a classroom progress report can be sent home. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to register for Parent / Student Self Serve to check grades on a weekly basis to view the most current grades for EVERY class. I will post grades on Friday but no later than Monday weekly. Homework Each student will be issued a textbook upon request of parent. Students will be provided notes/handouts with information to assist in studying and completing assignments. If homework is assigned, it is expected to be completed by the due date. Homework grades will count toward the final grade. If students do not turn in their work on time, they will lose points. If late, there will be a ten point deduction per day. After three days, late work will not be accepted, and the student will receive a zero for that assignment. Tutorials Will be offered based on school schedule.
