Health Creation – Merron Simpson, CEO, New NHS Alliance Link with previous speaker and National picture Demand for homes – but need to fund these (privately or publicly – or mix of both !) Employment and skills – we know jobs are very important but JRF recent report suggests: Local jobs do not mean local employment for residents of deprived areas – in many poorer areas jobs are filled by residents from more prosperous areas. Some areas experience ‘double disconnection’; they are not well connected to jobs or housing in their cities – there are 524 of these areas across the UK. The geography of poverty matters. There is often a mismatch between where people live and where jobs are located.

A Week of Wellbeing - Fleetwood August 2016 A week long series of activities that Regenda coordinated and delivered on behalf of a wide range of local partners. The aim was to tackle root causes of poor family health and to reinforce our local leadership role. Over 200 people attended. We listened and learned from our customers. Overall 78.5% of people on westview are living in a health deprivation hotspot with 41% of children are living in poverty. Cat Smith M.P for Lancaster and Fleetwood and L.C.C Councillor Lorraine Beavers supported the event

‘The pedal power smoothie maker was a great success, Get Active   54 children and their families attended the Mini-assault course and the Health Treasure Trail event delivered by Westview Community Association Volunteers. Fruit Explosion ‘The pedal power smoothie maker was a great success, 36 young people turned up for the event.’ Fleetwood Week of Wellbeing Impact measurement and feedback from residents was documented throughout the week. On behalf of local partners we are using the evaluation to develop a Children in Need funding bid. ‘As a Mum of five, struggling on benefits it is hard to give the kids all the fruit and veg they need. I know you are meant to give them all 5 a day, but that’s a struggle. This week is the first time in the holidays that all my kids have had their five a day, and they have loved it’.

Creative Credit… Financial Inclusion issues: Under occupation Charge Universal Credit Local Housing Allowance Loan Sharks & doorstep lending Shared accommodation rate (U35) Benefit Cap (Nov 2016) Budgeting Trust and engagement Discussion with Debbie Abrahams MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth and Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions Financial Inclusion issues Creative Credit is a joint project led by Regeneration and Financial Inclusion. It uses drama to bring awareness of the impacts of Loan Sharks, budgeting and Universal Credit. It directly impacted 670 children and parents across Oldham. Creative Credit 2 has recently been confirmed and follows the same approach.

Adapting the Approach… CC2 – Local Primary and Secondary schools CC2 – CC Officer Local partners, Credit Union, place- based, high impact ! Rolling out to Wyre and Blackpool CC2 is a new project. Commissioned by Oasis Academy Trust it will work across 5 local primary schools and one secondary school. Regenda coordinate and project manage, building local partnerships and ensuring the project accesses residents that need it most. Children and families engaged through drama. Young persons saver schemes Developing links with FHE as model of best practice Creative Credit Officer to engage with young people and coordinate the delivery of the project.

Limehurst Arts Society… Our 3 year community arts project in Limehurst has successfully secured £65k from the Arts Council and a further £24k bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund has been submitted. Limehurst by the Sea is part a series of events / activities aimed at engagement then supporting people into work / new skills. Over 150 signed up to becoming members of the Limehurst Arts Society.
