What are the lines on this map measuring? What do they represent?
Contour Lines Contour Lines are a type of line that represent areas of equal elevation on a map. The contour interval is the distance between each contour line (e.g. 20 metres). The index contour is a thicker contour line with the elevation written in it. A benchmark is a point where exact elevation is known.
