The Important Things in Life – Things that Matter PHILIPPIANS 1:15-18

PHILIPPIANS 1:15-18 15It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

WHEN THINGS DON’T MAKE SENSE

WHEN THINGS DON’T MAKE SENSE

WHEN THINGS DON’T MAKE SENSE

WHEN THINGS DON’T MAKE SENSE

WHAT ARE OUR PRIORITIES? What really matters? What is our value system? Our priorities determine the course of our life. What do we think about? What do we pray for? What do we spend your time and money on? Are they things pertaining to the Kingdom of God? What can we do that will enable us to enjoy life and rejoice?

1. RECOGNIZE THAT PEOPLE WILL DISAPPOINT YOU We are always a little shocked when it happens. This is something that we must be aware of and guard against. Some people even harm out of “evdokian/good will”! It has always been, and will always be, this way! 1 Corinthians 3:3

2. REFUSE TO BE PETTY 2 Corinthians 5:16 In one sense, we are just people. In another sense, we are God’s people. Why is it so easy to be judgmental? Our goal is to pull people up not put them down. We don’t condone sin, rather we point people to Jesus. Don’t judge people, love people.

3. REMEMBER WHAT REALLY MATTERS “Watch the ball.” Remember what really matters. Keep the main thing the main thing. 1 Corinthians 2:2 Matthew 6:33 The Kingdom is what really matters. If we’re going to finish the race well, we must keep our eyes on the goal. The goal is Jesus.

4. REJOICE IN WHAT GOD IS DOING God is in control. God is at work. Our challenge is to try to discover what God is doing and to rejoice in that. Learning to rejoice in what God is doing will make a tremendous difference in your attitude. There is always something for which we can rejoice. What is God doing in your life? God is changing you for the good.
