How were the southern colonies similar? The southern colonies all had warm climates and fertile soil that was perfect for a long growing season. 2. What are cash crops? What were the 3 most important cash crops in the south? Cash crops are crops that could be sold for profit. The main cash crops grown in the south were rice, indigo, and tobacco.
