Today in kindergarten…
Literacy I know all the names of the upper and lowercase letters. I can make the sound of each letter. I know how to use a book. (Print Concepts) I know the 3 ways to read a book. I can retell what I read.
Writing I can write my name. I can tell you a story by drawing a picture. I can label my picture. I can tell you what I am writing about.
Math I can count by ones and tens. I can count objects and tell how many. I can recognize and write numbers 1 through 10. I can name shapes. (hexagon, trapezoid, rhombus, and 3-D shapes) I can tell you if a group of objects is more, less, or the same as another group.
Independence I can take care of my personal needs. I can cut & glue. I can follow rules & procedures. I can follow one and two step directions. I can ask and answer questions to get help. I can speak clearly in complete sentences.

Top 10 skills Students to begin Kindergarten… Can tell many letter names and some sounds Can look at a book and tell the story by using the pictures Can write and recognize their name (first letter a capital letter followed by lower case letters) Can draw a picture and use beginning sounds or random letter to label items in the picture Can ask and answers questions in complete sentences Can orally count to 20 or higher Can recognize and write numbers up to 10 Can count groups of objects 0 – 10 Can compare sets of objects telling more, less, or equal Can name basic shapes
