Mid-term Exam Speaking Test Review College English 1 Are you ready?

Tips for the Speaking Test Be on time! Don’t waste time. Say as much as you can – remember the Rule of 5 Speak English only Use the grammar and vocabulary we discussed in class Practice and prepare for every question Be ready for follow-up questions

Unit 1 – Health 1. Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle? Explain why or why not. 2. What is your healthiest habit? 3. What is your least healthy habit? 4. How often do you exercise, and what kind of exercise do you do? 5. How is your stress level, and how do you manage it?

Unit 2 – Energy and the Environment What do you use the most energy for? Explain and give examples. What are some ways that you try to conserve energy? What are some ways you could conserve more energy? What do you think is the most serious environmental problem in the world today, and what should be done about it? What is the most serious environmental problem in Korea today, and what should be done about it? What do you think are the best forms of renewable energy?

Unit 3 - Culture, Traditions, and the Past Continuous What do you think would be the best and worst parts of cowboy life for you? What Korean traditions do you think the world should know about? Unit 5 – The Brain and Infinitive Expressions How good is your memory? Give examples to show how good (or bad) it is. What are some ways you can improve your memory? Would you like to have a perfect memory? Why/why not? What is something you will never forget? Why is it so memorable for you? What do you hope to do after you graduate? What are you trying very hard to do these days? What do you plan to do this weekend? What do you want you English teacher to do?

Advice for the written exam. Please write your answers clearly! On the true/false questions write a clear T or F Examples of answers that are ALWAYS wrong: ₮ Ŧ Ħ ᵮ Γ Ƚ ʧ ₣ Ⱡ Ԏ Ѭ On the multiple choice and matching, please write a clear uppercase letter (A, B, C, D, etc.). Many lowercase letters (a, b, c, d, etc.) look similar to each other with sloppy handwriting. If I do not know what your answer is, it is wrong.

Written Test Procedure Clear your desk. Spread out. BE QUIET once I start handing out tests. If you have a question or a problem, please raise your hand and tell me. Write your answers clearly. When you have finished, please put your test paper on my podium. Leave the room quietly.
