Welcome to Back to School Night 3rd Grade Grace Kim

Mrs. Kim 7th teaching at Live Oak and 14th year teaching Bachelors in English Literature and Language and Masters in English Literature and Language from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea Multiple Subject Credential, Special Education Credential and TESL Certificate from St. Mary’s College 3 Daughters, Lauren, graduate at UC Santa Cruz and pursuing nursing and a set of senior twins at Doughtery Valley High School Enjoy spending time at home with my girls and traveling

Binders Students write their planners, daily. Home/Sign -Tests- will be sent home to correct, sign and returned in the front pocket -Letters that need to be sent prior to Thursday will found in the

Homework cont. Absences Students are responsible for completing missed assignments when they are absent. Students are responsible for turning in missed work on the following day that they return back to school.

Independent Study Contracts Independent Student Contract required for absences longer than 5 consecutive days. Please inform the office prior to your absence. Students can only request Independent Study Contract once a year

New Common Core Report Card This year all schools in the San Ramon Valley will be using a brand new Common Core State Standards Report Card that has changed to a two semester grading periods. All information pertaining to the new Report Card can be located on the district website http://www.srvusd.net/edservices/assessmentresearchandevaluation Students will now be assessed by using a 1-3 grading rubric Conferences will be on the week of Oct 8-12th

Report Cards cont. Subject Grade 3. Achieving Standards: Student consistently demonstrates grade level expectations for concepts and skills. Subject Grade 2. Nearly Meets or Making Progress: Student is making progress towards basic understanding of grade level concepts and skills with assistance.

Thursday Folders Folder goes home on Thursday and must returned on Friday Weekly notices and other important parent information, as well as corrected work. Remove and review all papers, including corrected work and sign the back
