We all have Mental Health

We need to look after our Mental health and Wellbeing!..... Just like we would look after our physical health!   Physical health, which is our body. If we were feeling unwell we would take simple steps to make ourselves feel better; ….if we have a headache, we take a tablet.

Mental Health is… How we feel and behave. How we cope with ups and downs in everyday life. How we feel about our ourselves, our lives, our future. How stress affects us. How we deal with negative things that happen. Our self-esteem or confidence.

On a good Mental Health day, We generally feel happy.

On a poor Mental Health day, we may feel anxious, stressed or low in confidence.

Remember feeling anxious, stressed or low in confidence are all very natural emotions! We can come through it! Over time we learn to build resilience, which is an understanding that we may have these negative feelings, however with resilience and support we can overcome these emotions.

Just like our physical health we need to look after our Mental Health

We need plenty of sleep Turn off your devices AT LEAST 1 hour before going to sleep. Do you know about the night shift App? This App automatically changes the back lights on your devices from the harsh white daytime light to a soft orange… It helps your body clock to realise it’s night time and aids sleep. Eat well and drink plenty of water.

Exercise Exercise is a great for your Mental Health and wellbeing. This can be something as simple as going for a walk!

Keep calm! If you are feeling anxious or stressed, remember this simple breathing exercise: Breath in through the nose for a count of 3 and breath out through the mouth for a count of 3, repeat several times and you will feel calmer.

Talk to someone A family member A friend An adult at school A Mentor Or you are always welcome in The Mentoring Hub.

Help yourself Take some time out: 5 minutes away on your own to chill can have a really positive affect on your Mental Health Look out for the boards around school that have useful information and websites.

Remember these simple steps can help support your Mental Health and Wellbeing.

We all have Mental Health…look after it! Get enough sleep Eat healthily Drink plenty of water Exercise often Keep calm Talk to someone Take some time out! We all have Mental Health…look after it!
