Year 4- Indian pattern PATTERN + COLOUR

Why are we studying this? This project will help us to understand - Indian pattern and craft - what “Pattern” is - what “Colour” is We will learn how to - draw intricate pattern - use batik and dyes

How can we recognize An Indian pattern? What can you see? Shapes? Colours? Patterns? Explain what you like: I like… because…

Create a drawing of an indian pattern Things to remember… Sketch out the basic shapes first Add details Add colour

Create a wax resist experiment Things to remember… Sketch your design VERY lightly using a yellow colour pencil Go over your lines with a wax crayon Use watercolour / ink to “flood” the gaps

Create a Batik Things to remember… Sketch your design VERY lightly using a yellow colour pencil onto the fabric Follow your lines with HOT liquid wax using a Tjanting tool or brush Allow the wax to cool fully before carefully applying ink to the fabric If it is not your turn to use the batik, you should finish / refine / do another drawing of an Indian Pattern

Evaluation CHAT… During this project I learned about… I learned how to… I enjoyed… I am proud of…
