What does the backwards “B” tell us about the characters? What is the genre? What does the backwards “B” tell us about the characters? Will you be using a similar typeface?

What extra effects have been applied to the text for the second movie?

Using I.C.T to develop typography in MICROSOFT WORD Look for the Word Art button (on the “Draw” menu at the bottom). Can’t see the “Draw” menu? Go to View > Toolbars > Drawing.

Adapt something that exists already…

Think carefully about the issues we discussed on Friday – Which typeface is most suitable for your movie’s genre?

Font Design Activity 1) Open a new Microsoft Word Document. 2) Add the title “Movie Marketing Font Designs” and YOUR NAME. Add a Word Art Template using the title of your movie. Copy and paste the item so you have lots of them. Experiment with Word Art – have fun with your letters and try as many effects as you can. If the effect is not appropriate for your movie, add a comment next to it to say why not and move on to another piece of Word Art.

Lettering Development Lesson Objectives: 1. To consider how to design a suitable font your chosen movie. 2. To use computers to experiment quickly with different styles. Success Criteria Must: Have added at least ten different pieces of Word Art to your Font Design sheet in Microsoft Word. Should: Have experimented with a wide variety of effects to enhance the text. Could: Have added comments to each piece of Word Art to explain why they are or are not appropriate for your movie.
