Solution fluency Water Filter

Our idea Our idea was to create a way for people who aren’t as fortunate as we are to be able to have clean water While thinking of our idea we realized that the best way to go was making our own water filter that could be remade by anyone who would like to contribute to our innovation Water filter

The filter We researched ways on how to build our own water filter and the best one we found was one created by a family who wanted to make sure they always had clean water without having to spend a lot of money In order to create the filter we wished to make, we needed a plastic bottle, a mason jar, cotton, dirt, water, gravel, clean sand, and activated charcoal We were unable to create the filter ourselves as none of us could find where to get the charcoal and sand. And none of our parents wanted to buy some.

The steps Our filter begins with cutting of the bottom of the plastic bottle with a pair of scissors, then turning it upside down and putting it inside of your mason jar Then, inside your plastic bottle you begin to layer all of the sand and charcoal that you have. You begin with the 1-2 inches of cotton, and then around an inch of the activated charcoal. after the charcoal you add 2 inches of gravel and then 3-4 inches of sand. Your last layer is a second layer of 2 inches of gravel. The next step would be to take your dirt and mix it with a cup of water to create a visual example of dirty water Then, you proceed to poor the dirty water into the plastic water bottle and the results are fantastic!

Comparison

What we learned We learned a lot this year revolving around the global goals and ways that we can help by spreading awareness and doing our part to the world. Such as recycling and throwing away garbage But we think that this project was a very good way on how sometimes if a group of people can go a little farther to create ways on how to help the world and those who need it most, it can happen.

Struggles As a group we didn’t face many struggles other then keeping all of our attention on the same thing at the same time But our largest struggle would definitely be how none of us were capable of getting the charcoal, sand, and gravel that was needed to create our innovation Next time, we could have looked for other ways to create water filters. But we all did agree, and thought this was the best one

Thank you! Thank you so much for watching our presentation. We hope you enjoyed it!
