Fused Glass Sushi Serving Set Beginning Stained Glass Project #4 Author: Christine Burris

First Select 2 Templates Located in the Drawer under the Flag… They can but do not have to be the same size.

Using the color chart on the back of your portfolio select a color scheme Complimentary Monochromatic Analagous Neutral Primaries Secondaries

Locate glass to fit your color scheme First try to find it in the scrap cupboard If it is not available ask the teacher to check the full sheets area.

Trace the template onto your background color Try not to waste any glass.

Cut out the template exactly Use the same background color for both pieces Grind off any sticking out edges

Create a simple design to apply with other colors You can reference sumi painting for ideas It should be asymmetrical Use elements of the same design for both pieces

Glue the design onto the background template glass

Place finished designs in green turn in box next to the fusing kiln

After firing, retrieve your fused pieces from the green shelf and locate the slumping molds Slumping molds are located in the grey cupboard next to the tool station Use caution as they are fragile and expensive

Coat any non blue molds with one thin coat of release agent. Be sure to have the teacher show you how to mix the release agent in a 1-5 ratio.

Place fused items on the appropriate slumping molds and place in the grey cupboard

After the slumping phase: Wash and dry plates and totally Apply nylon stick on feet. 3 for bowls 4 for plates and trays

Fill out a self evaluation sheet and ask the teacher to grade your project…
