Colonial Times Food and drink by Tiffani <3

Candy Candy was very common to be dried or sugar coated which means they were covered in sugar. One candy colonial people ate was iced almonds which is just almonds with a coat of suger. A lot of candy was candied of some fruit. Like candied cherries for candied ginger.

Desserts/Ice Cream During weddings the cake would most of the time have coffee and raisins in it. One dessert men loved was Rum Balls, rum balls are non bake cookies made with rum. Some other popular desserts were... Sugar cake Pound cake Corn -bread Apple pie

Kids would drink something people called “small beer” Kids would drink something people called “small beer”. Small beer was like beer but without all the bad stuff, it was mostly water. Drinks They would not drink milk because cows were rare and cows were scared of everything and would run Woman drank apple cider and peach cider. In the 1700s people drank more fancier things like coffee and tea. Alcohol Men didn't drink many different things the only thing they drank was different brands of beer

Manners You could not eat meat on sunday At the dinner table it was polite to let the papa to sit in the main seat. Any noises or talking at the dinner table meant 1 hour in stocks If you said anything about the food good or bad you were punished for a unknown time

Kitchen In the 1700s the kitchen was not a part of the house. The kitchen would be apart for a few reasons People had a fear of the house burning People thought the smell was too strong All of the workers in the kitchen would sometimes disrupt the people living in the home
