“Soil Health Card” scheme under NMSA The Department of Agriculture has planned to issue Soil Health Cards to all the farmers in the State in a phased manner, over a period of three years. This project will be taken up i) initially in 1/3rd of the villages ii) rest of 2/3rd villages during subsequent two years.
Plan of Action: These 10 lakhs samples have to be analyzed in 3 years @ 3.3 lakh samples per year. Area Extent (lakh ha) No. of samples to be collected & analyzed Rainfed area 28.80 @ 1 sample for 10 ha 2.9 lakhs Irrigated area 17.74 @ 1 sample for 2.5 ha 7.1 lakhs Total 10.00 lakhs
Budget releases during 2014-15: GoI releases: Rs 93.48 lakhs Funds released by State: Rs 230.80 lakhs * * As the budget was released during fag end of the year, bills were not honored.
Mode of collection: The grid points for collection of soil samples will be marked by NBSS & LUP on the digitized cadastral maps. According to the grid points MAOs will collect soil samples.
Mode of analysis: 1.5 lakh samples- will be analyzed by Departmental STLs 1.8 lakh samples - will be analyzed through private agencies on payment basis.
Guidelines issued to the districts for collection of soil samples Soil Health Card (SHC) was designed with few changes in the original card and software was also developed for entering the results in the (SHC) online.

Land Resource Inventory of Telangana In addition to Soil Health Card scheme Department of Agriculture entered into MoU with NBSS & LUP i) To conduct soil survey on 1:10,000 scale ii) For efficient crop planning and resource management. This project is taken on pilot basis in 3 mandals of 3 districts which will be completed by April 2015. The rest of the State will be completed in 4 years commencing from May 2015 to April 2019 in a phased manner.
