Boswell High School MEMPHIS May 17th–21st, 2017

May 17th & 18th You will depart from your school late in the evening and drive overnight to Memphis. The next morning, you will stop for breakfast en-route (not included). Upon arrival, you will meet your tour manager. Memphis Music Hall of Fame - You'll visit the Memphis Music Hall of Fame museum and exhibition which introduces guests to some of the greatest musicians of all time – each responsible for shaping modern music and changing the world forever right here in Memphis! Cotton Museum - You'll visit the Cotton Museum. This spectacular room is open to the public, and is devoted to sharing the story of cotton-the crop that created empires and the people that transformed American culture and changed the history of a nation and the world. Free time on Beale Street Break for lunch (not included) WC Handy House and Museum - You'll visit the W C Handy House and Museum. Recapture the flavor of Old Beale Street by touring this turn of the century home which depicts the humble beginnings of this musical genius. Gibson Guitar Factory - This memorable tour of Gibson's Memphis guitar factory consists of an intimate viewing of the facility as Gibson's skilled Luthiers craft some of the finest guitars in the world. Memphis Rock n Soul Museum - The Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum’s exhibition about the birth of rock and soul music, created by the Smithsonian Institution, tells the story of musical pioneers who, for the love of music, overcame racial and socio-economic barriers to create the music that shook the entire world. Memphis City Tour - Enjoy a city tour of Memphis. 90 minutes of high-energy fun on this musical journey featuring Memphis’ greatest attractions from history and music to comedy and bongos – it doesn’t get any better than this! Sun Studios - You'll take a tour of Sun Studios. Reputedly the first rock-and-roll single, Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats' "Rocket 88" was recorded there in 1951 with song composer Ike Turner on keyboards, leading the studio to claim status as the birthplace of rock & roll. Break for lunch (not included) National Civil Rights Museum - You'll visit the National Civil Rights Museum. The Museum exists to assist the public in understanding the lessons of the Civil Rights Movement and its impact and influence on human rights movements worldwide, through its collections, exhibitions, research and educational programs. Dinner at Incredible Pizza - Enjoy your pizza and indulge in all of the fun and exciting games at the world famous attraction! Return to hotel

May 20th You will have breakfast and check out of the hotel. You will load your bags on the bus and begin your final day of touring. Stax Museum - You'll visit the Stax Museum. The Stax Museum of American Soul Music, located at the original site of Stax Records, pays tribute to all of the artists who recorded there with a rare and amazing collection of more than 2,000 interactive exhibits, films, artifacts, items of memorabilia, and galleries designed to keep Stax alive forever. You’ll board the bus and depart for your drive home. You will make meal (not included) and rest stops en-route.
