The progestin challenge and cyclic estrogen/progestin challenge may be unnecessary in certain clinical circumstances, and measurement of estradiol, LH, and FSH is often substituted. Patients in the diagnostic groups represented in this algorithm may need further appropriate assessment and management of underlying problem.
