Uncountable nouns always need a (singular/plural) verb, they (have/dont have) plurals, and they (can/cant) be used with a/an.
The following nouns are also uncountable: Furniture, information, advice, homework, research, news, luck, bread, toast, luggage, equipment. Use a piece of to talk about an individual item.
Plural nouns need a singular/plural verb and can/cant be used with a/an. If they consist of two parts (scissors, trousers) they can be used with a pair of or some. Collective nouns refer to a group of people: staff, crew, police. They need a singular/plural verb.
