DAY 1: Response to Intervention: An Introduction Group Activity: Read through the key points below. Pick the top 1-2 items that your school or district will prioritize in the coming school year. For each item chosen, discuss / record the main points of an action plan to implement. DAY 1: Response to Intervention: An Introduction Understanding the RTI model Surveying your school or district’s ‘RTI Readiness’ Creating a plan to enlist support from your school stakeholders for RTI Inventorying RTI resources available at your school Assembling an RTI Steering Group to oversee the RTI project Defining your expectations for what a teacher-initiated ‘Tier I’ intervention should look like

DAY 2: Structured Problem-Solving Through a School Intervention (RTI) Team Selecting a structured team problem-solving model Recruiting effective team members Training the RTI Team Promoting the RTI Team among faculty & staff Instituting RTI Team self-evaluations Collecting student baseline & progress-monitoring data for RTI Team meetings

DAY 3: Interventions: How to Select, Package, and Use Them Group Activity: Read through the key points below. Pick the top 1-2 items that your school or district will prioritize in the coming school year. For each item chosen, discuss / record the main points of an action plan to implement. DAY 3: Interventions: How to Select, Package, and Use Them Applying basic concepts such as the Instructional Hierarchy & the Learn Unit to intervention-planning Creating/collecting a bank of ‘research-based’ intervention ideas Defining a menu of appropriate Tier I interventions for teachers Documenting intervention plans as thorough step by step ‘scripts’ Improving verfication of ‘intervention follow-through’

DAY 4: Monitor Academic & Behavioral Interventions Group Activity: Read through the key points below. Pick the top 1-2 items that your school or district will prioritize in the coming school year. For each item chosen, discuss / record the main points of an action plan to implement. DAY 4: Monitor Academic & Behavioral Interventions Having teachers bring a pre-determined amount of archival or current amount of student information to the meeting Training staff in Curriculum-Based Measurement procedures Training staff to use specialized data collection techniques (e.g., for direct student observation, evaluation of work products, etc.) Developing a collection of checklists and rubrics for advanced or non-standard student referral concerns (e.g., for long writing tasks) Creating general decision rules e.g., how long a typical intervention should last or number of interventions required for CSE Charting data for visual display
