TCP Parameters and Settings January 2007 TCP Parameters and Settings The maximum TCP window size shall be at least as large as the bandwidth-delay product of the wireless link. Increase the receiver buffer size if necessary. Turn on the window scaling mechanism if necessary. The delayed ACK mechanism shall be enabled. The baseline delayed ACK setting shall be one TCP ACK sent for every 2 data segments to which delayed ACK applies. If the protocol stack permits this setting to be adjusted, an additional test trial shall be performed with an increased number of data segments per returned TCP ACK, up to a maximum of 4 segments. For DUTs with an Operating System that allows tuning of TCP or other protocol parameters in addition to the ones listed above, the Operating System default parameters shall be used for all baseline tests. Further, it is specifying something that is not a metric or an environment. Thus the logical place for this is a normative Annex that is then referenced by Clause 6.
