Prepare to Meet Your God Are you prepared? Introduction Countless warnings are given about the judgment in scripture. The judgment is inevitable and is said that that day will “come as a thief in the night” 2 Peter 3:10. After Israel disregarded the chastening of the Lord Amos told them to “Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!” Amos 4:12. The same admonitions are given in the NT. Matthew 24:42 1 Thessalonians 5:6 We do not know what will happen at any given time (“you do not know what will happen tomorrow” James 4:14). All we know is that the great day is coming. So we must always be prepared. What is included in preparing to meet our God?

Obey the Gospel! Only the sealed will receive the inheritance (cf. Ephesians 1:3-14). To become sealed you must… Hear and Believe (Ephesians 1:13) Repent (Acts 2:38) Confess Christ (Acts 8:37) Be Baptized (1 Peter 3:21) Obey the gospel. The Lord has chosen the ones who will go to heaven (Christians). Ephesians 1:3-14 – Preparedness is being of those who are blessed with the spiritual blessings. Those are the ones who have been sealed with the HS of promise. “who is the guarantee of our inheritance” – down payment. “HS of promise” – God’s promise of eternal life is given via revelation of the HS. This is sufficient evidence of our inheritance and is to us a “guarantee of our inheritance.” Hebrews 6:13-18 – God can’t lie, and He took an oath! To be a sealed you must… Hear & Believe – Ephesians 1:13 Repent – Acts 2:38 Confess Christ – Acts 8:37 Be baptized – 1 Peter 3:21

Continue in Good Deeds “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” – Philippians 2:12 Go on to perfection Hebrews 5:12-6:1; 2 Timothy 2:15 Make call and election sure 2 Peter 1:5-11; Galatians 5:22-25; 6:6-10 Looking for the day in “holy conduct and godliness” 2 Peter 3:11-12; 1 Timothy 4:8-9; 1 Peter 1:13-16; Romans 12:1-2 Continue in good deeds. “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” Philippians 2:12 Go on to perfection (maturity) (Hebrews 5:12-6:1). 2 Timothy 2:15 – The mature Christian knows the truth and can avoid dangers. Make call and election sure (2 Peter 1:5-11). Galatians 5:22-25 – We must pursue the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 6:6-10 – Continue doing good. Don’t lose heart. Looking for the day in “holy conduct and godliness” (2 Peter 3:11-12). 1 Timothy 4:8-9 – “that which is to come” 1 Peter 1:13-16; Romans 12:1-2 – We must strive to be more like God and not the world.

Are You Prepared? Jesus Is Coming (Revelation 1:7; 22:12). His Coming Is Unexpected (1 Thessalonians 5:1-5). He Will Receive Those Prepared (John 14:1-3). He Will Refuse Those Unprepared (Matthew 7:21). Are you prepared? (Conclusion) Jesus Is Coming (Revelation 1:7; 22:12). His Coming Is Unexpected (1 Thessalonians 5:1-5). Those in darkness won’t be ready. We should be. He Will Receive Those Prepared (John 14:1-3). He Will Refuse Those Unprepared (Matthew 7:21).
