Introduction The brief: - To develop a concept for an App through a process of rapid ideation – something much more than an ’idea’ – with sufficient detail and illustrations. - Should align with the following theme somehow: “As long as we have each other, we will never run out of problems” Source: GlobalGameJam 2009

Mind-mapping my thoughts At first, I was somewhat perplexed at the parameters of the theme, as it brought about a sense mystery for me – as someone coming from a non- gaming specialism - as I do not have a great deal of awareness with gaming, but also the challenges it posed coming up with lines of inquiry relating to this idiom. Stage one: I began to think about this phrase and draw key themes or keywords that best fitted this phrase. As long as we have each other, we will never run out of problems Togetherness Challenges- Problems- provides conflict Continuous

Mind-mapping my thoughts CONTINUOUS | TOGHETHERNESS|PROVIDES PROBLEMS TECHNOLOGY ATAP Storytelling togetherness Google Google Spotlight Stories ANXIETY Resilience unlimited THE SELF REFLECTIVE challenges Will-power problems chaos awareness BOWLING companionship GAME infinity Tom & Jerry union Never-ending Addictions Vice SNAKE Cat & Dog consistent habit NHS Austerity electronic health government Politics

Google Lightning Talks (GDC) 2017 I have looked at the Google Lightning Talks (2017) and thought about some of the ways I could integrate technologies to create an e-health type app, based around addictions and raising awareness (as an initiative). When I viewed this video I was really intrigued about some of the current evolving tech at Google. What particularly interested me was the ability to view and capture places using Google Jump, and how I could potentially use this and integrate footage into a utility based app. Another technology within ATAP that I found fascinating was the Google Spotlight Stories, and the ability to create immersive worlds in 3D which may be useful if I wanted to produce a e-health related concept for an app, to: illustrate user actions in an app and show how those perceived actions are damaging to their health.

Utilizing Google tech into an app idea Google Spotlight Stories ”SELL-OFF” IN-GAME APP IDEA Use Spotlight stories to immerse user in a short clips of action between gameplay in a in-app game called “Sell-Off”. A satirical depiction of the Tory Government V.S. NHS. Google Tech & use’s JUMP Tech 360 (Google) E-HEALTH IDEA Integrate storytelling in an interesting way for an e-Health application to help drug users cut their habits

Concept idea “Sell-off” - Game related app. A concept loosely based around the theme: ‘As long as we have each other we’ll never run out of problems’. The relationship between the Government and the National Health Service. A selection between from either the Tory or Labour. The aim to balance the books, build your budget and dependent on selection; sell off the nhs, or save the nhs.

Concept idea visuals ‘Sell-off’ In-game app experience where users play short point-scoring games, puzzles and quizzes. You start off with 1 Mil in your parliamentary budget to either save or privatize NHS and it’s assets. The game will be similar to The Sims, in that users will between games, get to answer multiple choice questions like in Simulator type games. Choice of two character selections; Labour of Conservatives. Tech considerations: Using Google Spotlight so that users can fully immerse themselves in the action while answering questions and navigating the game. User choice impacts the story narrative as they go through the game.
