History of Nanaimo: THE BASTION Everyone should visit the bastion when they come to Nanaimo. It was built by the Hudsons Bay Company to protect the first settlers from attack.

History of Nanaimo: COAL MINING Coal was discovered Nanaimo by the Hudsons Bay Company in 1849.

Nanaimo Parks There are over 10 different parks in Nanaimo. There are parks for hiking, beach combing and walking your pets. Oliver Woods is a good place to play.

Nanaimo Events Nanaimo has many annual events including the Bathtub Races. People ride in bath tubs with motors.

The important thing about Nanaimo is the weather. |In the summer it is hot and dry. In the winter, the snow can be deep and fun to play in.
