REACT – Sustainable development Fuel and transport Almunge skola, Sweden

Transportation and fuel Almost everyone in the project has a car In the REACT the average number of cars per household are two, except for Spain where they have one The cars in Germany, Spain, Belgium and Poland mostly run on diesel, they also use a lot of biogas. That might be because the diesel is cheaper in those countries Sweden and Holland mostly use ledfree fuel Finland uses mostly ethanol

Fuel in the different countries

Transportation to school Most of the students in Germany, Finland, Belgium and Holland go to school by bike In Sweden they go by bus In Spain they walk, maybe because they have the shortest distance to school In Poland they go to school mostly by car

Who pays for public transport? In Sweden and Finland the community pays for the public transportation to school. In Sweden you get a bus card if you live more than three kilometers away. For the younger kids it is less. In the other countries the families have to pay for the transportation themselves.
