Our ECO-SCHOOL Welcome to SP118

Eco-actions in SP118 We know how important it is to care about our environment. That is why we try to organise as many ecological actions as possible not only simple everyday activities but also big actions like International Ecological contest. We will be happy to present some of them.

Green Flag Award Having succesfully completed the Action Plan, we were granted the Green Flag Award in 2012. This year we are trying to renew the Green Flag Award.

Everyday ecology We remember about ecology every day. We know that our everyday behaviour matters. That is why we try to obey our school ecological rules not only at school but also outside.

Everyday ecology We segregate waste. There are special bins for segragating rubbish at our school – both in classrooms and corridors.

Everyday ecology We collect recyclable materials. All the 1-6 Year students take part in all year round competition which involves collecting wastepaper and cans.

Everyday ecology We save electric energy. When we go out of the classroom for a break we always switch off the light. In the restrooms there are circuit breakers and the corridors are lit only during the breaks.

Everyday ecology We always turn off water. In the toilets there are two-part cisterns and our maintenance staff look after the system to be watertight.

We take care of the school surrounding area We like learning and having a rest outdoors so we take care of the school surroundings in particular.

We take care of the school surrounding area The school project „ Plant a tree for peace worldwide” Each year our students under the care of the school gardener and the teachers of Science plant trees and bushes on the school surrounding area. All plants are purchased from fundraising run by the students themselves.

We take care of the school surrounding area The school project „We're going to blossom for spring” Thanks to this initiative, in spring our school surrounding area is full of gorgeous and colourful flowers. The bulbs of all the flowers are delivered and planted by the students themselves. This project is also supervised by the school gardener and the teachers of Science.

We take care of the school surrounding area Classes in the „ Green Classroom” When the weather is fine pupils of our school often have science lessons in our ‘Green Classroom’ outside.

We take care of the school surrounding area PE lessons are run on three school play fields and the playground. We love PE lessons outside

We organize International Ecological Contest For the last 9 years our school has organized International Ecological Contest. Children of many Wrocław schools and kindergartens take part in it as well as children from England, Ukraine, India, Germany, Denmark, Slovakia and the USA This year the topic is “ Tasty, healthy and colourful”

We take part in different eco- workshops In EkoCentrum Wrocław - for several years we willingly participate in eco-classes called “My city – clean city” organized by EkoCentrum Wrocław. Classes are run in Wrocław parks or in the building of EkoCentrum which is the most ecological building in Wrocław “WDUŚ” Project – for many years we also participate in the project “Wrocław Children learn how to segregate litter” – “WDUŚ” in short. In this project we investigate our region and then report about the situation to the headquarters.

We promote healthy lifestyle In our school pedagogical innovation is carried on called : ” All about healthy pupil`s nutrition “. During classes pupils learn how to prepare healthy meals according to the nutrition rules.

We promote healthy lifestyle „Cycling school” – for several years our school has taken part in the project “ Cycling School”. We participated in many cycling rides and succeeded in many competitions Every year pupils of Year 4 take the exam “Bicycle Card’. A lot of our pupils get to school by bike provided the weather is fine.

We promote healthy lifestyle A school shop with healthy food In January 2016 a school shop ”A healthy cow” was opened. In the shop the students can buy only healthy snacks, e.g. goat cheese sandwiches, granola bars, nutricious home made pastries and cookies.

Thank you for your time and attetion.
