District Drug Awareness Committee Representatives from elementary, middle and high school and community members make up this committee. Committed to awareness, education, and prevention. At Brentwood we are working on prevention. We embed the message of good choice and drug free in our Positive Behavior Program and our Drug Free Programs. Both programs emphasize good choices now and in the future. We are working as a district to have an intention K-12 prevention program.

Excellence in Achievement, Attitude and Actions Our Positive Behavior Program is rooted in the Excellence Expectations. We have clear expectations, incentives and recognition for doing the right things and clear responses for undesirable behaviors.

We are an Anti-Bullying District Any acts of bullying of a student are prohibited by the Plainfield Community School Corporation. A safe and civil environment in school is necessary for students to learn and achieve high academic standards. Bullying, like other disruptive or violent behaviors, is conduct that disrupts both a student’s ability to learn and a school’s ability to educate its students in a safe and disciplined environment. Since students learn by example, school administrators, faculty, staff and volunteers should be commended for demonstrating appropriate behavior; treating others with civility and respect; and refusing to tolerate harassment, intimidation or bullying.

Anti-bulling expectation Bullying is defined for Indiana schools in HEA 1423 IC 20-33-8-.02 – “Bullying” means: Overt (intentional) unwanted, repeated acts or gestures including: Verbal or Written communication, or images transmitted in any manner (including digitally or electronically) Physical acts committed, aggression, or any other behaviors that are committed by a student or group of students against another student with the intent to Harass, ridicule, humiliate, intimidate, or harm the targeted student and Create for the targeted student an objectively hostile school environment Bulling behavior must be identified using all three components 1. repeated behavior 2 . Intent to cause harm 3. creating a objectively hostile environment These behaviors are not considered bullying 1. peer conflict horseplay fighting where both parties equally participated

Our commitment We work to create a positive classroom and school environment We promote positive Peer interactions Actively supervise All staff are required to report any suspected Bullying to administration within 24hours. An investigation will happen thereafter. Anti-bullying expectations are reviewed with students throughout the year at convocations, swag tag awards, and classroom presentations Character education is done all year

Recognizing the Positive! At Brentwood we try to focus on what students are doing right. We have an emphasis on having a Growth Mindset and giving 100% effort. these strategies are supportive to a positive learning environment that recognizes excellence and promotes belief in ourselves. Student of the Week SWAG TAGS (Excellence in Achievement, Actions, Attitude, Effort and Attendance) Excellence Slips Excellence Convocations Clip off the Chart Awards Day Just be kind club Kindness counts month Key phrases… NOT YET, I believe in ME, My brain is growing…

School safety is a Partnership We live in a community where people genuinely care about one another Excellent law enforcement resources and first responders School community dedicated to safety and educating the whole child Working together, we can make a positive difference for our children.
