Cover letter

Cover letter If applying to a job posting, you should thoroughly analyze everything in the posting i.e. Duties; required qualifications etc. Ensure you address EVERYTHING they list that you have. Do not address anything that you do not have. Your cover letter is not intended to be a “one size fits all” *Do not apply to positions that you do not have key qualifications for i.e. if they require you to have a full G driver’s license and you don’t have any DL, don’t apply If you don’t have a car, don’t apply to places that would not have public transportation like smaller, more remote communities…you already know that you would not be able to accept a co-op from there so do not waste your time or theirs

Cover Letter

Cover letter – match resume

Details matter! PERFECT spelling & grammar (if this is not your strong suit, ask an English Prof if he/she would be willing to review your cover letter & resume for you. Keep the focus on what you have to offer the employer NOT what the employer can offer you. On average, 2 out of every 3 applicants will not get an interview. Make sure your resume/cover letter is not the reason you did not make the cut! Pay attention to things like: Do you have the proper spelling of the person you are addressing the letter to? Have you used the proper name of your program?: ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN: WATER & WASTEWATER SYSTEMS OPERATIONS POWER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

RESUME REVIEW AFTER YOU HAVE IMPLEMENTED THE CHANGES FROM THIS WORKSHOP, feel free to book an appointment with me to review your Resume & Cover Letter Log into the myCareer System (Co-op side); click appointments tab; book your appointment
