Comprehension Questions Huck Finn Comprehension Questions

Review Questions for Chapters 1-7 (In Pairs) What does Huck’s father want most in life? The new judge tries (and fails) to reform Huck’s father. What is the point of this episode? The river rises: Cordwood, logs are free for the taking and selling, fish are plentiful and on the lines, animals inhabit the Illinois bank forest, a canoe floats free down the river. What does the fact that Huck and his father can easily live off the land tell us about the American ethos? Give at least one example of Mark Twain’s satire (mockery for the purpose of change) in the opening 7 chapters. Where does Huck get the blood to fake his own murder? What are the townspeople looking for when they fire the cannon over the water and float quicksilver down river in loaves of bread? Who does Huck meet up with on the island? Go through satirical passages tomorrow.
