Overview Continued situation of reduced resources Continued refocus of our activities towards regional level activities Key aim: to support the institutional development of regional governmental statistical bodies Principal activities Promote ESS values such as the CoP and quality management Share EU standards for statistical production Provide training on EU statistical tools Provide supportive tools (ERETES, Eurotrace, Snapshot assessment) Africa remains the priority region

Wider environment for statistical cooperation External financing instruments (2014-2020) adopted in December 2013 11th European Development Fund ratification on-going Some strategic shifts in programming as a result of the "Agenda for Change" and adoption of Lisbon Treaty, such as Fewer themes per country Greater use of National Development Plans as a basis for programming Closer synchronisation between investment cycles of EU & MS

Key Eurostat cooperation activities since the last MGSC Launch of two multi-annual projects Improving the promotion & dissemination of Eurostat's tools (3 years, Artemis/Insyde consortium) Organisation of High Level Seminars on the promotion of ESS values (2½ years, ICON) Further testing & development of the snapshot tool Organisation of Eurostat's first international visitors week, November 2013 Elaboration of a possible African regional statistical programme to support capacity building at the continental level

Looking ahead to 2014 Continue promotion, dissemination and IT user support activities on the tools (Essential SNA, ERETES, Eurotrace, the snapshot, the Guide) Three high level seminars planned on ESS values such as CoP, implementation of the CoP and quality assurance frameworks 1 x Africa (Addis Ababa in April) 2 x Asia (India in Sept/Oct & Mongolia) 2nd International visitors week, 17-21 November 2014
