Effectively, NUCAP is the same as Nadcap – the same auditors use the same checklists, root cause corrective action is still required on any NCRs and so on – but it is a program for the Primes. So, just like suppliers can’t see other suppliers’ Nadcap audit results as it would be anti-competitive among other reasons, the same applies for the Primes’ NUCAP audit results.

The NUCAP program has a number of objectives, as shown on this slide.

NUCAP was introduced in 2003, with the first approval issued the following year. By 2013, there were 24 approved subscribers and an annual audit count of 250.
