Michael Joseph Smith Culture in a Box

Origins My father wanted to name me Joseph and my mother wanted to name me Michael. My mother's family comes from Mexico and My fathers family From Germany. My family is blended in our celebrations. The one thing that can be seen at all of our bbq’s or birthdays or celebrations is food. My family loves to cook, and I am grateful for it.

Origins One of the foods that i love having in the winter time is Tamales. We have Tamales startign in late October and at Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinner.

Birth/Formative Years I was born in Stockton at San Joaquin County Hospital. I grew up all my life in Stockton and didnt move away until i attended college. My most precious young memory was when i was 9 or 10 my family went on a cross country Vacation. We traveled through 19 states and were gone a total of 29 days. I also got to miss school but had to present a report when i got

home from the vacation. I to this day remember some of the things we did. I wish One Day to do the same.

Food Memories

Food Memories Some of my favorite foods are foods that i ate often growing up. I love tamales and rice, potato pancakes, chorizo and eggs, and anything with chiles and cabbage. No matter how large or small there is always food at any family gathering. I do a lot of grilling when family get togethers happen, and i love to help my wife and family cook.

Home My home has changed since i moved out of my parents. My home is a home where music is constantly on. I live in an apartment in Manteca. I moved in with my Fiance before we got married. Our Apartment is a two bedroom we have a small living room and kitchen but we like to be inviting and have friends and Family over.

Recreation I love to go to concerts, be outside, hike, run, have fun. I am adventurous and like to try new and exciting things. Most of all i love being with my loved ones, friends, and my wife.
