The Surrendered Life

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

What is the surrendered life? Letting Go and Letting God Surrender: to give up, abandon, or relinquish into the power of another Committed vs. Surrender Commitment: to bind or obligate, as by pledge or  assurance. Examples of surrender: First disciples (Mark 1:17-20) Elisha (1 Kings 19:21)

Surrendering your life means: (Rick Warren) Following God's lead without knowing where he's sending you Waiting for God's timing without knowing when it will come Expecting a miracle without knowing how God will provide Trusting God's purpose without understanding the circumstances

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Philippians 4:12-13 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

What does the surrendered life look like? (Jesus) Jesus the supreme example. Surrendered to the Father: His glory His life His Will

John 10:17-18 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

Mark 14:36 “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

My life: Have I surrendered my whole life to God? Are there still any areas of my life which I need to entrust to Him? My time: Do I live knowing that all my time belongs to God, or do I merely reserved small portion for Him in the spiritual “category” of my life?

Take my life and let it be By: Frances R. Havergal Take my voice and let me sing, Always, only for my King. Take my lips and let them be Filled with messages from Thee. My tongue: Are the words that come out of my mouth edifying? Do I worship and testify of the goodness of God?

My possessions: Do I treat any of my possessions as if it were mine rather than God’s? My mind: Am I bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ?

My will: Do I consistently seek to know and to do the will of God each and every day?  My affections: Am I allowing Christ to reign and rule over my affections, my emotions, and my responses?

My relationships: Is it my desire and intent to love God with all my heart, above all earthly relationships? Myself: Have I surrendered all that I am and all that I have to God unconditionally?
