ECASB Legislative Priorities 2018-19

2018-19 ECASB Legislative Priorities #1. NY State should fulfill the multi year commitment it made to local school districts when the Foundation Aid Formula was adopted in response to the Campaign for Fiscal Equity case. Further, we ask our legislators to make a multi-year commitment to NY State becoming a “Full Partner” funding fifty percent of the statewide costs of PK-12 Education.

2018-19 ECASB Legislative Priorities #2. New York State must ethically fulfill the commitments it has made to reimburse school districts expenditure driven aid. We Expect our Legislators to be Vocal and Visible Supporters of Public Education.

2018-19 ECASB Legislative Priorities #3 Until such time as an improved formula is put into place, New York State should distribute funding increases through the Foundation Aid Formula. The state should avoid creating additional “set asides” for categorical programs.

2018-19 ECASB Legislative Priorities #4. The ECASB recommends an increase in the amount of Small Capital Projects eligible for immediate aid from $100,000 per year to at least $250,000 per year as a strategy to better maintain capital investments. We Expect our Legislators to be Vocal and Visible Supporters of Public Education.

2018-19 ECASB Legislative Priorities We Expect our Legislators to be Vocal and Visible Supporters of Public Education #5. NY State must avoid meddling into resource allocation decisions made by local school districts. The needs of local school districts cannot be determined by bureaucrats in Albany!
