TÜRKİYE SCHOLARSHIPS Türkiye Scholarships is a government-funded, competitive scholarship programme, awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside Turkey to pursue a full-time degree and short- term programmes at prestigious universities in Turkey. Türkiye Scholarships aims to build a network of future leaders committed to strengthening cooperation among countries and mutual understanding among societies. Türkiye Scholarships offers both grants and university acceptance to qualified international students to study at undergraduate and graduate levels in Turkey. Highlights

CANDIDATES APPLICATION TÜRKİYE SCHOLARSHIPS CANDIDATES APPLICATION The application to Türkiye Scholarships is online and free. Candidates can apply via the following websites: www.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr www.turkiyescholarships.gov.tr CANDIDATES A citizen of any country outside Turkey may apply Scholarships are available for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD courses in a range of subjects as well as research, language and short-term courses One application for both university admission and scholarship u Applications for Türkiye Scholarships are usually received in February and March via Türkiye Scholarships website. u Applications can be made in 6 languages; Turkish, Arabic, English, French, Russian and Bosnian.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS ELIGIBILITY All candidates have to submit the following documents at the time of online application: Türkiye scholarships are open for citizens of all countries. Minimum level of academic achievement required: National exam scores (if any) Diploma or interim certificate of graduation Academic transcripts International exam scores (GRE, GMAT etc. if required by the chosen programme) Language test scores (if required by the chosen programme) Valid ID card Passport Photo A research proposal and an example of your written work (for PhD applicants only) - Undergraduate degrees: 70% - Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy degrees: 90% - Master’s and PhD degrees: 75% You can apply for Türkiye Scholarships if you are: under the age of 21 for undergraduate programmes under the age of 30 for master’s programmes under the age of 35 for PhD programmes under the age of 45 for research programmes

Interviews in more than 100 countries Face To Face Interviews in more than 100 countries TÜRKİYE SCHOLARSHIPS CANDIDATES SELECTION Selection Process Türkiye Scholarships is awarded on a competitive basis. Applications are assessed on the basis of academic success, qualifications and future goals. PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT: All applications are reviewed based on basic criteria such as minimum academic grades, age limit, required documents etc. SHORTLISTING: Expert committees carefully review the applications of eligible candidates based on a broad set of criteria including academic standing, previous qualifications, academic interests, career goals, consistency of choices, clarity of letter of intent, participation in social activities etc. and then make a list of qualified applicants for interview. INTERVIEW: The shortlisted candidates are interviewed in more than 100 countries by the interview committees including academicians and experts. SELECTION: Selection Committee evaluates interview results of applicants nominated by the Interview Committees and finalizes the list of applicants to be awarded a scholarship. The Scholarship offer cannot be deferred to the next academic year under any circumstances.

Selection Criteria Qualified applicants are invited for an interview in their own countries. In some cases, applicants are interviewed online or by telephone. Interview committees usually consist of at least one representative of Türkiye Scholarships and one academic staff from Turkish universities. Interviews usually last 15-30 mins. and are conducted in the following format: Welcome and introduction Document check Candidate’s motivation for applying Academic knowledge and career goals Ending and questions to the committee

Monthly stipend for a single student: For Undergraduate Students 700 TL per month For Master’s Students 950 TL per month For PhD Students 1400 TL per month For Research Scholarships 3000 TL per month* Length of awards Undergraduate: 1 year Turkish Language course + 4 or 5-6 years (it depends on the normal duration of the programme) Master’s: 1 year Turkish Language course + 2 years PhD: 1 year Turkish Language course + 4 years Research: 3-12 months Research Scholarships only covers monthly stipend *

CULTURAL AND ACADEMIC GUIDANCE In an attempt to contribute to social, cultural and academic improvement of international students, Türkiye Scholarhips carries out many projects and activities towards the international students in Turkey. International Students Academy In order to raise awareness of the international students in the fields of civil society, culture and media and inform them about Turkish culture, civilization and global vision of Turkey, several seminar programmes are conducted in 16 cities in a coordination with various non- governmental organizations and research centers. Thanks to inner and inter-city culture tours organized within the programmes, students are informed about historical richness and cultural heritage of Turkey on the one hand, and they get chance to meet famous intellectuals and academicians on the other hand.

Alumni Meetings Being aware of the importance of building sustainable relationships with alumni, Türkiye Scholarships aims to maintain economic, political, cultural and academic relations with Turkey Alumni through various activities.
