Classroom Rules and Procedures The following discipline procedures will be used in class!

Classroom Rules 1. Students are to bring all required materials and supplies to class each day. 2. Students are to be in their seats, quiet, and ready to work when the bell rings. 3. Students are to follow directions the first time they are given. 4. Students are to raise their hand to be recognized before speaking. 5. Students are to remain in their seats unless given permission to get up. 6. Students should not eat or chew gum in the classroom. Water is welcome!

Expectations We are here to learn. I expect you to be quiet or talk very softly—better whisper– when allowed. Treat others—teachers and students--how you want to be treated. Respect learning environment of all here. If angry or frustrated, take it out on a piece of paper(write how you feel, or just crumple it) and throw it away.

Disciplinary Procedures I will give you 3 warnings then… 1nd offence- Parent Notification 2rd offence- Teacher Detention 3th offence- Referral to the office This procedure may be altered according to the severity of the offence!!!!

Incentives 1. You will successfully complete my class! 2. I will brag about you to your parents and other teachers and administrators! I will place a smiley face with your name on my pride wall. You can decorate it!

Classroom Procedures or How We Do Things in Ms. Asher’s Class

Being Prepared and Writing Utensils Bring required materials each day. (3-ring binder, loose leaf paper, pen, pencil, flash drive) *Always have a stack of clear note cards! Writing Utensils Students may use a pencil or a pen (blue or black ink) Blue or black ink should be used for formal writing assignments. Write legibly (clear so it is readable): if I cannot read it, I cannot grade it.

Entering and Exiting Class Entering Class After entering the room, students may not leave without permission. Upon entering, students should go to their assigned seats quietly. Begin working on the “Do Now "assignment. Exiting Class The teacher will dismiss the class Not The Bell. Do not pack anything until the teacher will announce that class is dismissed. Students are responsible for cleaning the area around their desks before leaving the room.

Your Binder Keep the following in your binder: syllabus, schedule, do nows, key vocabulary, notes, handouts, worksheets, analysis of tests/quizzes, and other important misc. All materials must be in the right order just like on the board or in class binder. Notebooks will be checked and considered part of your classwork. If in doubt, consult class binder on the desk next to whiteboard (left side of class). I will also post it on my website

Papers Make sure you have your name, date and class on each paper. Heading Papers Make sure you have your name, date and class on each paper. Research paper and projects should have a heading with teacher’s name, subject, student name and period. Example Jane Smith Teacher – Ms. Asher World History 1st period date Turning in papers At the end of the class turn in your work in the drawer with your period number that says “Turn in here” Pick up graded work from the drawer with your class period that says “Graded” It is located on the desk next to white board

Restroom Students should use the restroom before class. Emergency bathroom breaks only. No more than three per semester. You will sign your name and date each time you go. There is no bathroom breaks first and last 10 min of class. Absent more than five min- you are violating my rules, there will be consequences. Absent more than 10 min considered AWOL and result in administrative referral. If I shake my head, it means “It is not a good time to interrupt learning, ask me later.”

Pencil Sharpening and Trash Students are to sharpen pencils upon entering the classroom If your lead breaks during class and if your have no other writing utensil, quietly go to the teacher’s table and get a pencil. Write your name in a corner on the board as a reminder to return borrowed materials. Do not disturb the class, please! Trash Trash will be thrown away when your are dismissed from class. Keep it at your desk until you are dismissed. Pick up all paper around your desk before leaving the room.
