QUESTIONS?????

CAA Fundamental Golf Program Presentation John Gunby, PGA Welcomes you to the CAA Fundamental Golf Program Presentation

FUNdamental Golf Program Play FAST Play SAFE Play COURTEOUSLY

FAST Move quickly between shots. Hit the ball & get out of the way. Keep up with the group in front of you at all times.

SAFE Don’t endanger other people with your club or ball. Be aware of your surroundings.

COURTEOUSLY Be nice to the environment and to the people within the environment. Use the Golden Rule.

Fast Play Be ready to hit when it is your turn Play “READY” golf Watch your ball all the way & line it up with a landmark. Then proceed in a straight line to that spot, if possible Plan a shot as you’re approaching it. Know the yardage markers before you go out & play. Don’t play “ball mark tag” on the greens

Keep up with the group in front of you at all times! Fast Play The 1st Player to “Hole Out” has the flagstick ready to put into the cup after all players have putted out. “First one in, grabs the pin!” Move on to the next tee when you’re done putting; write down the scores on the next tee box or going to the next tee box. Keep up with the group in front of you at all times!

Safe Play Look around you & make sure the area is clear before you swing Be in a safe position so that a golf ball (even mis- hit) will not hit you If your ball might hit someone, yell “FORE” in plenty of time Golf Cars are just that – CARS – they are not toys & they can injure if driven recklessly

COURTESY Make reservations to play golf & if you cannot make it or the number of players changes, call ahead in plenty of time. Take note of any dress codes or any requirements. Arrive at least 20 minutes before your reservation and check-in Introduce yourself to your playing while taking off your cap and shaking hands. Identify your golf ball at this time.

COURTESY Fix ball marks, even of those who are not as courteous as you Replace or repair divots Place the rake in the bunker when playing from it. Rake your way out and afterwards place the rake outside the bunker Do not step in another player’s line on the green Watch your shadow & movement while others are playing

COURTESY Do not tear up the ground with practice swings A maximum of 1 practice swing is allowed Encourage others while playing Encourage yourself & think highly of yourself After your round, thank others for playing golf with you while you take off your cap/hat & shake hands

COURTESY Be aware that many more golfers are enjoying the golf course other than your group or the group directly behind or in front of you. You might not see them, but your actions influence their enjoyment. Leave the golf course in better condition than when you arrived Pick up any trash or litter you encounter on the golf course or on the clubhouse premises. Collect any empty practice ball baskets and return these to the appropriate area.

COURTESY Thank the Golf Staff for the courtesies that have been extended to you on each visit. Write “Thank You” notes often and sign your full name.
