Emergent & Early Readers Using your knowledge of the MAS and your readings so far: What do kindergartners need to know? What do kindergartners need to know and be able to do in order to be “ready” for Grade 1? What does a literacy program look like in kindergarten?

ACTIVITY 1: Planning A Shared Reading Lesson Using the LP template and information provided in Kostelnik and Tompkins, create a developmentally appropriate Kindergarten shared reading lesson that incorporates the following: Book introduction & previewing activity Before/during/after reading phases 4 small group literacy extension activities [rotations]: 2 work work activities: phonics & phonemic awareness Writing Handwriting
