Nursing Facilities 228 currently licensed nursing facilities in Colorado 167 recertification surveys were conducted in FFY 17 603 complaints were investigated in FFY 17 (104 more than the previous year) 8 recertification surveys were conducted by Ascellon 47 full time positions available to conduct surveys and complaint investigations 15 vacant positions – travel demands, long hours & pay are reasons most frequently offered for resignations In order to operate certain health facilities in Colorado, a license to operate has to be issued and active at all times. Obviously there are more licensed health care facilities in Colorado, there are the ones in my branch where Radiology Services are either provided at the facility or may be provided under contract with another facility. Not all health entities are licensed by the department. Urgent Care, physician practices

Nursing Facilities (Cont.) The revised federal recertification survey process was initiated in November 2017 We continue to work towards the goal of completing the survey in 4 days The Emergency Preparedness surveys were also initiated in November 2017 These surveys are completed at the same time or soon after the recertification survey

Chapter 7 ALR Rule Revision 2-Year effort collaborating with stakeholders No comprehensive revision since 1986 initial drafting ALR residents now have more complex healthcare needs necessitating updated standards Number of ALRs has risen in the last decade from 500 to approximately 671 Current draft reflects industry standards of care & Division’s specific health and safety expectations

Recent Projects Assisted Living Residence Rule Revision 2-year long project to revise licensing rule for Assisted Living facilities State Enforcement Actions 150% increase necessitating additional Enforcement Policy Advisor Complex Service Solutions Council Co-Chair w/ DHS & HCPF Home Care DORA Sunset for Home Care licensing Community Integrated Health Care Service (CIHCS) Implementing a new model of integrated, community health care services as mandated by SB16-069
