Learning Objective ACTION: Process Meal Cards CONDITIONS: In a classroom environment, given access to AR 600-38 (The Meal Card Management System), Meal Card (DD Form 714), Meal Card Control Register (DA Form 4809), Meal Card Control Sheet and awareness of Operational Environment (OE) variables and actors. STANDARDS: Students will be assessed within a minimum of a 70% accuracy or higher on the following objectives: Meal Card Management system Responsibilities and Appointment of Control Personnel Issue a Meal Card

Check On Learning Q: How are meal cards printed and distributed? A: Meals cards will be printed and distributed in books of 200. Q: What is the purpose of the Army’s Meal Card Program? A: To provide guidelines and management of Meal Card Control Books (DD Form 714) and reimbursement for meals. (AR 600-38, Ch 1, para 1-1) Q: What regulation governs the Army Meal Card Program? A: AR 600-38.

Check On Learning Q: What are the Meal Card Control Officer responsibilities? A: Requesting and receiving Meal Card Control Book(s) from the BCO per requirements of paragraph 3-3, AR 600-38. Q: What rank/grade must a Meal Card Control Officer be? A: Personnel will be an officer, a Soldier (E-7 or above or an E-6 filling one of these positions), or a civilian (GS-9 or above) and will be other than food service or Troop Issue Subsistence Agency (TISA) personnel. Q: Who is responsible for establishing procedures to monitor the number of active books each MCCO has on hand? A: The Book Control Officer (BCO). Note: Conduct a check on learning and summarize the learning activity.   Q: What is the Meal Card Control Officer responsibilities? A: Requesting and receiving Meal Card Control Book(s) from the BCO per requirements of paragraph 3-3, AR 600-38. Q: What rank/grade must a Meal Card Control Officer be? A: Personnel will be an officer, a soldier (E-7 or above or an E-6 filling one of these positions), or a civilian (GS-9 or above) and will be other than food service or TISA personnel. Q: Who is responsible for establishing procedures to monitor the number of active books each MCCO has on hand? A: The Book Control Officer (BCO).

Check On Learning Situation: PFC Surry and PV2 Daniels are both in the dining facility for the dinner meal. PV2 Daniels realizes that he has left his wallet in the barracks. Can he borrow PFC Surry meal card to eat dinner just for today? Situation: A Soldier informs their squad leader that they cannot get into the DFAC to eat because they accidentally washed their meal card and it is not readable. What action should the squad leader take?
