Country experience with PAHOFlu Good morning. Suriname

OUTLINE Historical information Perspective from Laboratory and sentinel sites Perspective from Epidemiology: Statistics, Reporting, Monitoring using on-line system Advantages and recommendations

Historical data Before PIP: Influenza testing in country was set up in dec 2009 (in MWI) Since 2010, participation in WHO-EQAP program every year ( consecutive 100% score) LH and SZN (MMC) as SARI sentinel sites since 2010   Start as PIP country: June 1 , 2015 ICU (AZP) as sentinel site since 2015 Reporting online since July 15, 2015 AZP (Pediatric ward) since 2016 Molecular ORV testing (MWI) since August 11, 2016 First virus sharing: Dec 2016 Rapid response training December 2017 (first in the region) HAIDraft national action plan October 2017

Laboratory perspective  Country use of the online system by the laboratory: First use online reporting: July 15, 2015 (only for Influenza) Since June 1, 2016: also weekly online reporting for RT-PCR ORV results Country Benefits: Additional possibility for data check of patient details (investigation form vs online data) No extra paperwork for the laboratory for result form No time loss between availability lab result and reaching the sentinel site (especially important for the ICU)   International Benefits: Lab results from the country in real time available across the globe, enabling swift actions/reactions if necessary

Issues to be addressed in the LAB tab: Entering of lab results not possible in case of mistakes in dates on the clinical information; delay of results no specification of the PCR test possible (Influenza or ORV); sites cannot determine from the summary whether or not ORV has been tested no option to enter data from different tests on consecutive data, all results need to be entered the same day even if available earlier: delay in reporting

Perspective Hospital surveillance · Data should be entered online as soon as possible · After result is available the case should be closed as soon as possible · Each week there is a weekly sentinel report available with the use of the automatic report generator

Epidemiology: monitoring dashboard

Epidemiology: Dashboard, summary report

Advantages and recommendations Real time reporting system Less time consuming M&E Dashboard Easy to access and use RECOMMENDATIONS Lab tab: some adjustments need to be made to optimize the system and allow full functionality Further updates to also automate preparation of the ILI report
