Relationship Between Champlain and the Small Band of First Nations People -Trade Alliance -Military Alliance -Safety for both parties

Trade Alliance For the Small Band of First Nations People, the trade brought tools and weapons. For Champlain and the French, the trade brought furs. Both parties realized the importance of their relationship with each other.

They agreed not to trade any furs with English. The tools by the French, made life easier for the First Nations People.

Military Alliance The Iroquois War began in 1609. The French provided firearms to help win several battles. Champlain also provided 300 men.

Huron Alliance Champlain realized the more trade alliances the better. The Hurons were great fur traders. Champlain was eager to form an alliance with the Hurons. Alliance: Partnership

The alliance with the Huron made the Small Band of First Nations peoples band concerned. The Huron supplied most of the beaver furs along the St. Lawerence.

Back At Quebec Champlain struggled to keep his venture going. The company was making good money from furs. France had little interest in building a settlement.
